So far, I'm liking him. I like his friendship with Claire. I still had no idea that he & Leo were brothers.

It's nice to see a gay character, but I wish they would let Lucas out of whatever attic he's been stuffied in.

As for Kyle and Leo.... the old Leo would never have made a crack about anyone's sexual orientation at work. ("He's not into you.")

Secondly, while the the new Leo looks a lot like the old Leo (except shorter!), Kyle looks nothing like either of them. Is he adopted or a half brother? On GH, Leyla recently mentioned that Dr. Julian, like her, is Persian. I thougth they might explore that angle.

I'm hoping NS won't make him gay in name only and actually address and acknowledge it in a more meaningful way. I think NS could do this. I'm happy when any diversity is added to the mix. Go NS.

Nice to see a character who's gay - I do hope this is a flag to suggest Lucas is coming back (then perhaps he can free his mother from the recurring vault). But the Caucasian/Persian thing has me really thrown. Guza would leave it, I know (or not go there at all) but I hope Sri Rao follows through. There's a story to be told, and I get the distinct impressing that Leo is NOT the favoured son. Perhaps he is the adopted boy because "Leo Julian" isn't exactly a name I would expect to find from the Middle East.

He's supposed to be gay? I didnt get that at all. Just because Leo said to the girl "He's not that into you." I didnt get that that was supposed to mean he's gay.

Lol people weren't paying attention. At the end, Claire was like "You're gay right?" and he said yeah.

I like Kyle. I think he's adorable and I like his friendship with Claire. Maybe they'll dig Lucas out for him...

Yeah , maybe some viewers were nodding off when Kyle said he's gay because it was almost midnight! At least it was here in Jersey!

I obviously didnt hear that he said he's gay...and I even watched the show again with a friend. lol Guess I was focusing on other parts of it. Yeah, focusing on other things.......Jagger. :-} :D

I like Kyle. When I read in a news post someplace NS was adding a gay character, that's why I decided to watch. I like Kyle's friendship with Claire. Will be interesting to see how the show explores Leo and Kyle being brother's since they look nothing alike. Hopefully they give Kyle a love life and maybe bring back Lucas. ATWT's Luke and Noah needs some competition, LOL.

I totally love Kyle, and will be very interested to see what they do with the character. I really hope that Kyle and the actor that plays him will be moving to GH during the day.

I like Kyle so far. Love his friendship with Claire. I hope to see him become a more develpoped character. I definitly think there is alot of potential there he can have a partner and lots of story between him and Leo...I think one of them is adopted.....could be good.

I really like the new character of Kyle. I'm guess him and Leo are half brothers or something because he's white and Leo is middle eastern right?

For some reason he didn't impress me much the first time. I thought he seemed pretty cool during my second watching though.

I think it's cuz he's sort of an understated actor. I didn't think much at first but then I started to appreciate his more quiet presence. I think him and Claire have a great connection and it could turn out to an awesome truly friends storyline - like Jax and Alexis and Jason and Carly. (if you don't count the early romance or the fake marriage).

I don't know, but I think that is probably it though. I do usually appreciate understated acting though. I think the first scene with him and Claire was more her scene though, but I did appreciate his part the second time. He wasn't asked to do that much other than his altercation with Leo, so I do think I missed judged him unfairly. I'm betting he gets to do and say a little more next week.

I can buy Kyle as a gay character, but I don't buy him as Leo's brother. Or now that they have totally rewritten Leo Julian, are they going to say he was adopted (presumably by a white family) as well, when that didn't seem to be the story last year.

Now that they have another gay guy in town though, it's time for Lucas to come back out of the closet, or where ever it is they have been hiding him.

I never saw Lucas on GH as I am a new viewer but NS would be a great place to bring the character back!
I'd love to see both Kyle and Lucas brought to GH eventually but I'd love to see a story with them explored on NS first.
If not Lucas, I hope there will be another gay character introduced because if Kyle is the only gay character than obviously they are not planning a gay romance which would be quite a let down.
I understand if they are exploring the whole Julian family angle with the gay storyline at first but I hope Kyle will have someone to love soon (if he doesn't already... he never said he was single..... maybe his boyfriend will be introduced in the coming weeks?)
Can't wait to see more of his story!!
I'm loving NS2!!!

i always love your posts on the ATWT board...
I don't watch much of that show (i record it every day but fast-forward through most of it).. i actually stopped watching ATWT for a while because of the way Noah/Luke was being handled...
I've come back to ATWT now that Ameera is gone but i still can't get into much else of what is going on and Luke/Noah still aren't being given the respect they deserve so, although I am watching the show again, I haven't been paying that much attention to the ATWT board lately cuz there is just not much I have to say about it.

anyway, I just wanted to say hi!
glad to see you in here and can't wait to hear your thoughts on NS2 and Kyle as the season progresses!

Don't really know what to think of him yet. He seems all right so far though. Don't know what happened between him and Leo to make them have so much animosity toward one another but oh well.

I'm so glad they've added a gay character to Night Shift. Although Kyle came across to me as a little dull, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that his personality will become more fleshed out as the weeks continue. I wonder if they will give him a love interest (maybe a good time to reintroduce Lucas?). I understand the need to recast Leo (Dominic wasn't available) but I don't see why they had to change his personality. I can't imagine old Leo not accepting his brother because he's gay, but I guess that provides for more story...All in all, I'm glad to see more diverse characters on my soaps!:clap:

I imagine that the disdain goes far beyond 'preference....'
I would imagine they are half brothers with some issues about
a father who left Leo's mother for his.....
He mentioned him being a 'privileged ' child, so I would guess
that the money was with the younger, blond brother as opposed
to Leo.... I would guess that was an issue too....

Everyone knows, ofcourse, that the new actor is the brother
of the other actor who played the part..... right?????

I think that their issues go a lot deeper than the fact that he is gay too!
In fact I can't really imagine that being an issue, it probally has something
to do with the way they were brought up. One was privaledged and one
was not. One had to fight for their career and one apparently did not,
or at least one brother feels that way. I think the brother that plays the
gay character is a cutie though! LOL

Hi guys! Caught Night Shift this week primarily because I'd heard about the character of Kyle; ATWT has really disappointed me with their treatment of Luke & Noah, and when I heard that NS was introducing a gay man as a pivotal character I was hopeful but on my guard.

I didn't watch the first season of NS, and I haven't watched GH since probably 1983, so I'm coming to this all new. Having said that, I'm immediately impressed with Adam Grimes' portrayal of Kyle--he's not a stereotype, just a smart, slightly geeky guy (but very handsome and sexy) who happens to be gay. I certainly hope TPTB introduce a romance for Kyle--this is their chance to pick up the ball that ATWT has dropped.

Hey Pepe, welcome back to GH. I'm hoping Kyle gets romance too. When atwt had Luke coming out, GH also also had Lucas Jones coming out, but unlike atwt, GH went absolutely nowhere with the story. Lucas came out, got gay bashed, hung around for a while, and then pretty much disappeared.

So I'm hoping that maybe they'll bring Lucas back and introduce him to Kyle :D. After all, Lucas' mom Bobbie is a nurse at the hospital :)

^^^ GH would be smart to do that. Lots of unhappy Luke and Noah fans right now, could tempt some of them to watch GH if they brought Kyle to GH and recast Lucas. Although the main complaint for Luke and Noah now is lack of airtime, I doubt with Guza a "Kyle/Lucas" romance would get much more.

I'm glad they added a gay character too. I LOVE diversity on the show and i love even more that they didn't make him an over the top queen, i can't stand stereotyped roles. I kind of want him to cross over to GH and then i kind of don't because lord knows he might end up dead or never seen if put on GH.

Over at Soapnet Claire and Kyle have a web video thing. Hopefully a gay relationship isn't too hot for a cable station but even if it is they can tell the story through the web.

One way or another I think the audience is ready for a good gay lovestory.
